Florida!

I know everybody is probably tired of me blogging about our vacation.

Just one more day, ok?

I don't get out much. When I do, I have to milk it for all it's worth.

Enjoy the slide show!

Our Last Day

Last night was our last night in the Siesta Key area. Sob!!!

We ate at a restaurant called Dry Dock, hands down my favorite place to eat in the Sarasota area. They specialize in melt in your mouth seafood. I think I might be getting hungry again.

What other restaurant brings you bug spray so you don't get bit by mosquito's? We sat outside so the kids could watch the boats coming and going. They were in little boy heaven.

The best part of the night for them was when a very kind man gave them a tour of his boat. Thank you sir, you just made my children's whole day. The smiles on their faces were priceless.

The only complaint I have about this whole vacation is that since I'm pregnant I am only supposed to eat 12 oz. of seafood a week.

Surely you joke, association of ob/gyn's. I have been waiting three years to eat fresh from the ocean seafood.

Let's just say I enjoyed every bite of my 12 oz. allowance. I may have ate 14 oz. Shhh!

After dinner, of course we had to stop at our favorite ice cream shop. What's vacation if you don't eat unnecessary calories?

The ice cream at Kilwins is yuuuuuuuuuummy!! They are always busy and crowded, and every time we have been there it's been a loooong line. So worth it though.

I have a doctor's appointment next week where they will be checking my weight. Two days after vacation. Sigh. I may need to reschedule.

Now, it's on to packing suitcases and holding on to the memories we made this week. It really has been a very fun-filled vacation. The boys were at the perfect age to enjoy this vacation. Alex, who especially lives life with passion and gusto, was busy running from one adventure to another.

Today we are visiting Sea World. On a busy Saturday. I must be crazy.

Tomorrow we head for home. Back to colder temperatures, laundry and cooking.

I guess all good things have to come to an end.

Kid's Night!

Yesterday we went to the Mote aquarium. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the Sarasota area. Drew, in particular loved it. They had sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, and an extensive array of fish.

Let's not forget the giant squid. It wasn't alive, but it was HUGE!

What made it even better is that I had a coupon for a free adult admission, and Alex was free because he is under four. Again, I love, love, love discounts! Especially with the tooth fairy soaking me earlier in the week.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Wednesday, Drew and Alex both felt the effects of the sun and beach and took long naps in the afternoon. Because everyone was in such a great mood after napping, we termed Wednesday night as "kids night".

We let them pick the restaurant (of course they picked pizza). No, we didn't let Chuckie Cheese be an option. I'm all for kids night, but I have my limits on vacation, people!

After eating greasy pizza, we went miniature golfing. The pictures are a little blurry because my camera died and I had to use my cell phone.

Drew got a hole-in-one on the third hole. To say he was ecstatic would be an understatement!

They both loved kids night, especially because it ended with ice cream.

Every evening this is what Alex says to me.

"This has been a fun, fun day. Let's come to Florida every day."

Amen, Alex. Amen.

Jungle Gardens

Today, in an attempt to be productive, we decided to take the kids to Jungle Gardens. They enjoyed it and it was a nice change of pace.

I remember my parents taking me here as a child. I have to say, I don't think it's changed much or been updated in thirty years. I guess when they advertise on their website that it'll be a "memory of Florida days gone by" they aren't kidding. The website also stated that "not much has changed in sixty-eight years". I should have taken that seriously.

Luckily, we had a discount coupon that got us a free adult admission. (I love discounts!) On our coupon they were advertising a 250 lb, 12 foot african snake, the largest of it's kind in the world. Drew and Alex were beyond excited to see this snake. Can you guess what happened?

It wasn't there anymore. Which resulted in a major crisis for two little boys.

I guess some things have changed in sixty-eight years.

Jungle Gardens, please don't advertise animals if they are no longer in your care. There's nothing worse than looking as if you lied to two hot, hungry and grumpy little boys who have been promised to see an african snake that's "bigger than daddy"!

Ok, I feel better now that I got that off my chest.

The Beach!

Siesta Key Beach was named as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. I can vouch for that, I love it here! The sand is white and powdery and feels great to walk on.

I was a little worried that the kids wouldn't like the beach and the sand. I shouldn't have been concerned, they are having a great time! In fact, I don't think Alex can walk near the sand and water without leaving soaked from head to toe.

We've been going out in the morning to collect seashells. I learned after the first morning to ALWAYS put swim trunks on the boys when heading near the ocean. What is it with water and boys?

Here are some pics of what we have been doing the last several days...

Notice Alex is SOAKED!!

The Tooth Fairy

Hypothetically speaking...

Let's say a certain six year old wakes up at six am in the morning and looks under his pillow. Let's also pretend that certain parents forgot that the tooth fairy was supposed to visit last night.

Do you know what happens then?

Let's just say that a certain mother might have felt slightly panicked and lots of guilt when seeing her son's big sad brown eyes.

Luckily, the tooth fairy made an emergency landing and left the only thing she could find in her wallet.

A twenty dollar bill.

ARRRGGHHH.

Let's just say it has been emphasized over and over again that only tooth fairies in Florida leave twenty dollar bills.

Ironically, his three year old brother is now convinced that one of his teeth is also loose.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Vacation!

It seems as though I have taken an unintentional bloggy break the last several days.

Thursday I was busy with laundry, packing and more laundry.

Friday, after two airplanes and one loooooooooonng delay we arrived in Florida.

Florida. Ahh, Florida. How I love you.

We've spent the last two days eating, playing in the sand, eating, going to the pool, eating, taking naps, eating, listening to more "Tom cat screams" (from Tom and Jerry), than I care to count, and eating.

Whew! Who knew vacation could be so much work?

Our wifi in our condo was down till late yesterday, so really I couldn't blog. Internet problems seem to follow me everywhere, even to the sunny south.

The kids are having a blast playing in the sand. I'd venture to guess Alex will be rolling in it before the week is over. Today he tried to bury himself. They play hard and fall into bed at night exhausted. Poor Alex fell asleep mid-bite the other night at dinner.

I have countless pictures to post of the beach, Alex asleep mid-meal, and Drew's missing tooth, but half are on my cell phone, half are on my camera, and I'm to lazy right now to download them.

Vacation, it's exhausting.

So, I'll be back either tonight or tom. with more recaps and pictures. I'm sure you are all on the edge of your seats with excitement.

Now, I think I'll go eat a bite.

By the way, does the tooth fairy come to Florida? I guess we'll find out tonight.

If a six year old's attitude right now is any indication, the tooth fairy's rate is much less in Florida.
